Members and Governance Practices
The powers and duties of the School Board are derived from the State Constitution and the Pennsylvania School Code. The School Board’s primary responsibilities are described in the Pennsylvania School Boards Association (PSBA) Principles for Governance and Leadership and are summarized below.
Pennsylvania school boards are committed to providing every student the opportunity to grow and achieve. Board members focus their efforts on programming and setting policy that supports the Superintendent and District Administration with the day-to-day operations of the district. The actions taken by the board ultimately have both short and long-term impacts in the classroom.
