Objective: Convert numbers from scientific notation into regular format.  Convert measurements between different units in the metric system.

Activities

3.  Metric System Guided practice.

4.  Metric System Independent practice and assessment.

HW-  Finish anything not completed in class today. Study Element names and symbols 1-40.

Tuesday

Objectives: Determine the number of significant figures in a measurement.

Activities:

1. Daily Topic Question. (Photo Hunt Chapter 1 and Scientific Notation)

2.  Watch the 15 minute Video on Uncertainty in Measurement and add to note packet.

3.  Significant figures (5-10)

In your notes: Define the 3 bold terms found on pp. 32-33.

In your notes: Copy the Rules for Determining Significant Figures (from screen).

Rules for Determining Significant Figures

1.  All non-zero numbers are significant

2.  Sandwiched zeros are significant

3.  If there is a decimal present, all ending zeros are significant

Multiplying and Dividing: Round your answer using the least number of significant figures present in the measured values of your calculation.

3.  Significant Figures Guided Practice. Utilize the Sig Fig Practice document (Canvas).
