Student Led Parent Conferences

February 25, 2019

Dear Haverford Middle School Family:

How to Sign Up For a Conference

We are excited to revisit Student-Led Conferences for our spring parent-teacher conferences.  A Student-Led Conference is a student driven conference where the student is responsible for facilitating the discussion regarding their performance, progress, goals, and action plan for improvement.  Teachers will participate in the conference as well, but it is the student’s responsibility to lead the conference.  Student have been preparing to lead their Student-Led Conference for the last eight weeks.

Student-Led Conferences increase student accountability, promote goal setting, increase communication between the student, family, and school, and teach students how to set goals, self-evaluate, and communicate.  During the Student-Led Conference, your child will share with you work samples, strengths and areas of improvement they identified, and goals they have set.

Spring Student-Led Conferences are scheduled for the following dates and times:

·      Wednesday, March 13th           11:05 – 3:20 PM

·      Thursday, March 14th              11:05 – 3:45 PM & 5:30 - 7:35 PM

·      Friday, March 15th                   11:05 – 2:30 PM

Families will be using the web-based tool Sign Up Genius to schedule parent-teacher conferences. The Sign Up Genius site will open on Friday, March 1st @ 7:00 PM.  Please click the Haverford Middle School Sign Up Genius page link at https://goo.gl/jSzcXB to schedule a conference.  See the Sign Up Genius How To Guide  above if you need help navigating the Sign Up Genius link.  To schedule a conference, you will select your child’s teaching team and schedule your conference date and time.  The Sign Up Genius page link will close on Friday, March 8th @ 7:00 PM.

If you need assistance scheduling a parent-teacher conference, do not have access to a computer, or cannot make one of the scheduled parent-teacher conference days, then please contact your child’s team leader.  The team leader will collaborate with you to find a time to discuss your child’s performance and progress with you.

Students will be dismissed at 10:50 AM and will not eat lunch in school on conference days. Bus schedules will be moved up accordingly.

We look forward to seeing you!

Sincerely,

Daniel J. Horan
