HHS Community,
- Please read and reread the entire email. More than half is new, and a quarter of the email is the return to school information sent to you previously in separate emails.
- Many of our staff got their flu shots this past week. We are doing whatever we can to stay healthy and be ready for October 19th.
- The School Board approved HHS' Hybrid Schedule beginning on 10/19/20. See below.
- We will hold Picture Day and Tours for all 9th to 11th Graders the week of 10/12. This is a student-only event at assigned times. You will receive an email from Legacy Photo for your student's allotted time. Students will be excused from class. If students are unavailable to attend, there will be a make-up photo days, but there will be no make-up for tours of the building. See below for the times. The entire tour and picture will take 45 minutes. So, feel free to drop your student off and come back 45 minutes later to pick them up. Masks will be worn to school and on tours but not in the picture.
- Seniors will have a Senior Sunrise on October 14 at 7:11 AM, followed by tours. Seniors taking the SAT on October 14 will tour after the SATs are completed. See below.
- Student Schedule for The Week of 10/12/20 remains the same as what we are presently doing. One more week before the schedule changes.
- Free Breakfast and Lunch Daily FOR ALL STUDENTS. Lunch will be a grab and go daily and will include breakfast items for the next day. THERE WILL NOT BE BREAKFAST DAILY. SO PLEASE EAT BEFORE YOU COME TO SCHOOL. It is up to the student to grab lunch, and the next day's breakfast on their way out of school daily.
- The class of 2021 is filling out college applications at a furious pace. Check your deadlines! We will assist you in any way we can. However, we need to get transcripts, essay, and references completed on time!
- Technical Education students started this Monday, October 5, 2020. They were masked and seemed ready to go each morning as they arrived for the bus at 7 AM each day. Kudos to all the Technical Education students for getting started on the right foot!
- Medical Career students start this Monday, October 19, 2020. THIS IS A CHANGE TO THE ORIGINAL DATES OF 10/5 and 10/12.
- Lastly, athletics started! Golf had a historic match. It was the 1st sporting event since March of 2020 for the Fords! Kudos to the athletes and coaches for following the guidelines and getting their seasons started. We will have small amounts of fans returning next week to see our competitions. We thank the parents for the support and patience as we layer in their return to cheering on their student-athletes. Golf is presently undefeated at 3-0. So all of The Fords are undefeated, and we hope to stay as close to undefeated in athletics, academics, and life as we return to the Hybrid World!

We will evaluate the schedule weekly and adjust the times when applicable. The goal for the week of October 19 is for the students to return to school safely and get acclimated to the new schedule.
COVID Guidelines for Students
- Be on time each day, either in-person or online. This will help us to socially distance. Our timed schedule and shorten passing time between classes is designed to minimize close contact with others and maximize class time. On October 19th, teachers will be managing at home and in-person students. It will be difficult to let anyone into a class that is late while virtually at home. If you miss class because you were late and the teacher cannot let you in, you will miss valuable education.
- Water bottles and a SMALL snack are ok to bring to school. We prefer drinks with straws when possible. However, giant coffees that have been traditionally spilled in the hallway each morning should now be left at home.
- Masks must be worn at all times. Masks breaks need to be requested and authorized by an adult and taken in the halls when hallways are clear of other individuals.
- Student desks are 6 feet apart in the classrooms. Students should adhere to the 6-foot distance whenever possible.
- 2 students at a time in the bathroom. We will have bathroom monitors to assist with social distance when waiting for the bathroom.
- When students arrive at school, they should go directly to the first block class.
- All families need to self-screen for symptoms before you arrive at school.
- Students who would like a free lunch will walk through the cafeteria in the orderly line, grab their lunch and next day's breakfast, and exit to home. This is voluntary for each student. No food or drink can occur on a bus.
- Students need to continue to complete all assignments as they have normally done during Pre-COVID times.
Sincerely,
Pete Donaghy, Principal

What this new announcement means for the School District:
Effective immediately, ALL students (regardless of income) can receive meals free of charge on any day that school is in session (includes virtual and in-person learning) through September 30, 2021.
Starting the week of October 19:
High School:

Athletics Update from Ms. Robtison
Ticket(s) Update
Beginning tomorrow, we will allow each fall sport athletic participant 2 passes each. This pass is good for home games and is only allowed to be utilized by the student-athletes parents/guardians. Student-athletes in grades 9-11 will only have their parents permitted at home contests. Senior (Class of 2021) student-athletes will be given senior (Class of 2021) passes, and their parents/guardians will be allowed to travel to away contests at schools that permit the away team spectators. Ms. Robtison will communicate to each coach with games senior (Class of 2021) parents can travel as this is a fluid situation. The pass only shows that you are approved to be there. If the school is charging admission, the parent/guardian will still be required to pay for their ticket to gain admission. All spectators are required to socially distance and wear masks at all sites at all times. The league is making the passes, and we will start distributing to the teams as soon as we get them. Teams with home competitions prior to our official passes arriving will be given temp passes.
Anyone coming to our contests or going to an away contest should stay home if they are experiencing any of the following symptoms: fever/chills, cough, loss of taste/smell, sore throat, shortness of breath, vomiting or diarrhea, has come into close contact with someone with COVID or has recently traveled to a banned state.
Passes will be issued one time only. If you lose a pass, it will not be reissued. Passes are not to be distributed or utilized by anyone except the student-athletes parent/guardian for their specific sport. We will be live-streaming and/or recording most home games this fall for spectators to watch via our YouTube channel.

From the Nurses: COVID Regulations
As we move toward our hybrid model, the nurses would like to share with you the Chester County Health Department guidelines of what to expect if your student is sent home sick. Please see below for the most up-to-date information regarding when your student will be sent home, how long they will have to remain at home, and how to properly care for your student or a family member if they become sick.
Your Child Will Be Sent Home If:

-OR-
They have any two of the following symptoms: Fever (temporal scanner > 99.5); sore throat; chills; muscle pain; fatigue; headache; congestion or runny nose; nausea or vomiting; diarrhea.
**Please note that, though these are the CCHD criteria for COVID-19, your student WILL BE SENT HOME REGARDLESS for fever or vomiting as their only symptom as per our standard school policy and procedure. For non-COVID-related nurse visits, nurses will continue to use best practices to assess your student and their needs.
