All students participate in physical activities to raise funds for Bringing Hope Home, a local organization which supports cancer patients and their families in the local area.Geography BeeSponsor Name: Mrs. Mary ClouseRun Dates: Mid November to mid JanuaryAll students participate within their Social Studies classes for round one of the competitionLocation: Social Studies Classes for round 1, Room 286 for semi-finals (end of December) , Auditorium - Final Round (January)Information: The Haverford Middle School geography bee starts in November and finishes in January! Every student in the Middle School has the opportunity to participate in the National Geography Bee through their social studies classes. Once the student has answered seven random questions correctly in their class, they advance to the semi-final round with Mrs. Clouse in January. When ten students emerge as the finalists of the school, there is a final round of competition in the auditorium.
WEEKLY GEOGRAPHY BEE QUESTIONS:
Every week, students will have the opportunity to answer three questions relating to geography. The students may use any resource material (atlas, world almanac, or the internet) to find the answer to the questions. There will be prizes awarded in January to the top three students who answer the most questions correctlyPotter CupRun Dates: End of JanuaryLocation: variesOpen to all students.Information: The annual Potter Cup activity takes place every January. The middle school students of Haverford and Paxon Hollow come together for an afternoon and evening of games, activities, food, and friendship to support Alex's Lemonade Stand. Over the past ten years, our combined efforts have raised more than $480,000 to help battle childhood cancer.
