The 6th grade Developmental Guidance Program meets once a week throughout the entire school year. The class is designed to facilitate the transition from elementary school to middle school and to address the challenging developmental changes of a sixth grade. The concept of empathy is woven throughout the entire curriculum throughout the year. Some of the issues and material covered throughout the year include:
*stress management/coping skills
*NOW-(Notice, Offer, Warn) Suicide Prevention Program
*peer pressure reversal
*acceptance of diversity
*study and organizational skills
The developmental guidance class is collaborative and hands on. It is designed to build skills that students are able to use in school and at home throughout life.
