Prepare Our Students
A laptop will provides students with the technology and tools they need to access valuable resources throughout the connected world we live in. Our students need to be problem solvers and innovative thinkers in today’s ever-changing world. Our goal is to empower students with access to digital tools and resources so that they can personalize and direct their learning. Creating a technology-enriched learning environment allows students to pursue their unique academic interests and support learning inside and outside of the classroom - a continuum of learning - at all locations between school and home. We must prepare students for a world where they will have much more responsibility for creating and managing their own work. All of our students, regardless of socioeconomic circumstances, deserve the level playing field that access to technology can provide.
The goal of the 1-to-1 program in the Haverford School District is to create a collaborative learning environment for all learners. This environment will enable and support students and teachers to implement transformative uses of technology while enhancing students’ engagement with content and promoting the development of self- directed, responsible lifelong learners and users. Students will transition from consumers of information to creative producers and owners of knowledge. The District will integrate professional development for teachers and students to enhance classroom environments by implementing high-quality instruction, assessment and learning through the use of technology and curriculum. Technology immersion does not diminish the vital role of the teacher. To the contrary, it transforms the teacher from a director of learning to a facilitator of learning.
