Bullying/Cyberbullying - Policy 249
The Board strives to provide a safe, positive learning environment for students. The Board recognizes that bullying creates an atmosphere of fear and intimidation, detracts from the safe environment necessary for student learning, and may lead to more serious violence. Therefore, the Board prohibits bullying by and of district students.
The purpose of this policy is to maintain a safe, positive environment for students and staff that is free from hazing. Hazing activities are inconsistent with the educational goals of the district and are prohibited at all times.
The Board strives to provide and maintain a safe, positive learning environment for students that is free from harassment. Harassing behavior, including sexual harassment, is inconsistent with the educational goals of the district and is prohibited at all times.
Definitions: Harassment means verbal, written, electronic, graphic or physical conduct relating to an individual’s actual or perceived race, color, age, creed, religion, sex, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, ancestry, national origin/ethnicity, veteran status, marital status, disability, or membership in any other protected class when such conduct
