MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports)

Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) is a comprehensive student supports strategy that uses equitable, responsive, and evidence-based practices and a collective ownership of student growth and achievement. The system identifies student needs and provides a set of evidence-based practices to meet the unique social-emotional, behavioral, and academic needs of students. In doing so, all learners are supported in reaching their highest potential.

  • In Tier 1, all students receive high quality curriculum and instruction in the general education classroom. The teacher assists all students.
  • In Tier 2, the school provides targeted instructional support according to their needs.
  • In Tier 3, intense instructional support is provided to students with the greatest needs.
