Dear Chestnutwold Families,
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Jaclyn Huston and I will be joining Jennifer Munch in the Counseling Department. I am excited to be part of the Chestnutwold Elementary family; already, it has become apparent how close-knit and welcoming the Chestnutwold community is, and I look forward to being part of it!
My passion for school counseling began during my time as a student at Penn State University where I received my Bachelors of Science degree in Human Development and Family Studies. I then went to Duquesne University where I earned my Masters of Science in Education and certification as a K-12 School Counselor and National Counselor Certification. Before coming to Chestnutwold Elementary School I worked as a school counselor at a Philadelphia charter school, grades 4-6. What I love most about the elementary level is the genuine curiosity students have in their learning and the world around them, as well as the opportunity for early intervention support that can have a lifetime positive impact on a child.
As we kick off this new school year, my first priority is to become familiar with all of the students, families, teachers and staff in our community. I look forward to collaborating with everyone in order to help our students achieve their personal, academic, social/emotional, and career goals. Some of the services I provide to enhance student life are: classroom guidance lessons, small group counseling, referrals to community resources, and 504 service planning.
I am so excited to work with your children and get to know you throughout the coming school year!
All the best,
