Upcoming Events

  • Early dismissal, Teacher in-service, Friday, January 18th
    • AM Kindergarten reports, no PM Kindergarten.
      • AM Kindergarten students will dismiss at 11:30AM
    • Grade 1 – 5 will dismiss at 11:50AM.

 

  • Kobi Yamada is coming to Chestnutwold on Friday, January 18th. He will visit our lower grades classrooms and hold a Q&A with students in grades three, four, and five. 
    • Mr. Yamada will be in town visiting the pucciManulitoy store in Ardmore, PA on Saturday, 1/19, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM for those who wish to meet him outside school. 
    • This is an exciting opportunity for all involved. This is possible thanks to the word of mouth sharing you do with the community at large. We appreciate that you are telling our story and the good things we do. Thank you.

 

  • School and District offices are closed January 21st 
    • Dr. Martin Luther King day

News

  • Recycle your dried markers and crayon “stubs.”
    • The Chestnutwold Delegation, in conjunction with Roots and Shoots, have placed marker/crayon collection boxes in each classroom. Send us your dried markers and crayon “stubs” for recycling.
    • Our recycling collection started in January and will end in May.
    •  All collected markers will be sent to be recycled and used to make plastic goods and new crayons for children’s hospitals. 

 

  • The 2019-20 school year calendar has been approved and is posted to the district and school websites. It can be found in the “News” section.

 

  • Recess
    • Our students will go outside most days for recess, conditions permitting.
    • Please sure students are dressed in appropriate attire.

 

  • Lost and Found continues to grow.
    • Three large lost and found bins are filled with coats, sweatshirts, and other items. 
    • Students are welcome to visit the lost and found at recess or lunch. Please ask your child to check these collections for their lost items. 

 

 

January’s School Program in the Highlight

Conflict Mediatorsare present during each recess to help students settle common less tense conflicts that arise between peers. Ms. Jen Munch, our school counselor, trains our students in the principles, practices, and expectations for what it means to be a Conflict Mediator. This leadership opportunity benefits our entire student body. These minor conflicts are resolved immediately and safely using restorative means. These matters are recorded and reported to Ms. Munch for further investigation, if needed. 

Indoor recess: A small group of students from a grade may remain inside during recess, depending on available resources, to complete schoolwork, study or do homework. We understand not all students enjoy playing outside at this time and may prefer enjoying a quieter environment.

In the event or rain, excessive heat or cold, our students remain inside. We do our best to provide opportunity for our students to move around in these instances by making the gym or LGI room available for play. When these locations are not available, students will remain in their classrooms.
