Monday, May 25, 2020 is Memorial Day. To many people, Memorial Day is the unofficial kick-off to summer. But WHY do we celebrate this day? What does it mean? Explore the resources below to learn more about Memorial Day!

  • How does listening to the Star Spangled Banner make you feel? 

  • Go on a FLAG hunt! Make a prediction with a family member, then see how many American Flags can you safely find waving in your neighborhood. Was your prediction too high? Too low?  

 

UNPLUGGED ACTIVITY: 

  • Go on a FLAG hunt! Make a prediction with a family member about how many flags you will find. Then count how many American Flags are waving in your neighborhood. Was your prediction too high? Too low? Where did you see the most flags?

  • Draw a picture of your family celebrating Memorial Day.

  • Sing a patriotic song with your family, The Star Spangled Banner, God Bless American, America the Beautiful. 

  • Write an Acrostic Poem to celebrate Memorial Day, use one of these words: Memorial Day, Freedom, Flag, Soldier, United States.
