Maintenance & Facilities
- The new ‘green roof ’ at our high school is home to trays of plants that soak up rainwater, reducing stormwater runoff. Energy-saving LED lighting in many of our buildings and all parking lots has helped to reduce long-term electric costs, and high-efficiency boilers and chillers installed in some of our schools keep our climates comfortable at reduced costs. The District has consciously chosen numerous sustainable options that both reduce expenses and promote environmental responsibility.
-
The Energy Management Program, managed by the District's Operations Department, proactively reduces utility consumption, waste, and carbon emissions.
-
Energy-efficient LED bulbs replaced outdated traditional lights.
-
Lights in our buildings have motion sensors to detect movement in a specific area and trigger the lighting system in a building. They save energy and reduce costs by ensuring that lights are only turned on when needed.
-
Green Cleaning products are utilized in our buildings to reduce the use of harsh chemicals that can be harmful to ecosystems, air quality, and human well-being.
-
Four of our buildings now have High-efficiency gas boilers and instantaneous domestic hot water systems.
-
Four district buildings have been completely converted to LED lighting, and we are currently working on upgrading all the other buildings to LED. The district purchased LED lights using the PECO rebate, and we are in the process of replacing all fluorescent lights with LED lights in the middle school cafeteria, kitchen, and hallways. Additionally, all parking lots in the district have been converted to LED lighting.
-
Water fountains throughout the district have been replaced with filtered water bottling stations.
