Strath Haven will be hosting Aidan's Heart on Saturday, November 18.  They will be conducting free heart screenings for kids ages 5-19.  All athletes are invited to register if they'd like to be screened.  Below is the FAQ sheet for the event:

Saturday, November 18th at Strath Haven High School, Wallingford PA

WHEN: Saturday, November 18th from 9AM-3PM WHERE: Strath Haven High School’s Cafeteria

    205 S Providence Rd, Wallingford, PA 19086

    WHAT:
Free Heart Screening Event for Youth ages 5-19, presented by Aidan’s Heart Foundation. Aidan’s Heart Foundation is a local 501(3)(c) non-profit organization that seeks to prevent death from SCA through screening young hearts, teaching CPR+AED skills to adults and youth, and facilitating the placement of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) in local communities.

    WHO:
Open to all youth between ages 5-19 who have not previously been screened and who have no known heart condition. Wallingford-Swarthmore students and young residents will have priority registration beginning Sunday, October 15th. Registration will be open to the public starting Sunday, October 22nd.

    WHY:
Sudden Cardiac Arrest occurs when the heart’s electrical system malfunctions and is the number one cause of death of youth athletes on school grounds. Sudden Cardiac Arrest usually happens without any warning signs or symptoms. Between 2,000-9,000 young people suffer a sudden cardiac event each year. Many of the conditions that can cause SCA are preventable and highly treatable, but they are not detectable with a stethoscope. An EKG exam can detect approximately 70% of the conditions that cause SCA. By having your child’s heart screened with a simple, non-invasive EKG exam, you can minimize the risk of Sudden Cardiac Arrest.

    REGISTRATION INFORMATION:
Will be posted at 3PM on Sunday, October 15th at w ww.AidansHeart.org . Links will be posted on Aidan’s Heart Foundation facebook page as well.
