Accounting 1
Accounting I - BU1310-BU2310 - 1 credit, 1 semester. Open to students in ALL levels. Open to all grades.
This course will provide students with a basic understanding of accounting using a case study approach of (1) a service business organized as a proprietorship (Encore Music), (2) a merchandising business organized as a partnership (Omni Import) and (3) a merchandising business organized as a corporation (Winning Edge, Inc.). Students will be introduced at an introductory level to: accounting cycle, accounting process (assets, liabilities, and owner’s equity), financial statements, forms of ownership (proprietorship, partnership and corporation), and use of Interpretation of Financial Data. Accounting 2
Acounting II - BU2320 or BU1320 - 1 credit, open to students in ALL levels,1 semester. Prerequisite. Open to students who have completed Accounting I with a "C" or better. This course emphasizes corporate accounting as well as integrates accounting practices with related computer skills and automated accounting software. A case study approach will be continued from Accounting I and will include departmentalized accounting, accounting control systems and general accounting adjustments. Managerial, cost and Not-for-Profit accounting will also be introduced. Course Expectations and Requirements:
