Last year the SchoolBoard approved for the high school to
begin the process of providing high school students Chromebooks, for school and
home use. The
mission of the 1-to-1 (one Chromebook to one student) program in the Haverford
School District is to create a collaborative learning environment for all
learners. This environment will enable
and support students and teachers to implement transformative uses of technology
while enhancing student engagement with content and promoting the development
of self- directed, responsible life-long learners.
Prepare Our Students
The logo to
the right refers to our vision for our students. One laptop will provide
them with the tools to access valuable resources throughout the world. We live in a connected world. Our
students need to be problem solvers and innovative thinkers in today’s
ever-changing world. Our goal is to empower students with access to digital
tools and resources so that they can personalize and direct their learning.
Creating a technology-enriched learning environment allows students to pursue their unique
academic interests and support learning inside and outside of the classroom - a
continuum of learning - at all locations between school and home. We must
prepare students for a world where they will have much more responsibility for
creating and managing their own work. All of our students, regardless of
socioeconomic circumstances, deserve the level playing field that access to
technology can provide.
